Mask Video Shoot

Mask Video Shoot

Today I spent the day with Wendy Drolma once again in her cozy Woodstock, NY studio shooting video and stills. Wendy and I worked together before on our conceptual mask shoot. Below are some still shots taken the day of the interview.

About Wendy

Craftsmanship is at the heart of a Wendy Drolma mask. As a child, I enjoyed watching things be made. Long before the term became popular, my parents were "makers," and spending time watching them use tools was a form of intimacy that I valued and that remains a favorite pastime. Anticipating choices and working through the idiosyncrasies of form and function provided excellent fuel for creativity. I am self-taught, and since 1993 have brought my obsession with how things are made to the discipline of creating uniquely beautiful handmade masks that are unrivaled in comfort.

Inspired by nature, each mask is brought to life with the utmost attention to detail. The leather used is imported from Italy where it has been tanned using extracts from vegetable matter such as tree bark and oak leaf. This is the oldest known method of tanning.
